Mobile phone users waste £800m a year

Thu 08 Jul, 2010 // Firstnumber Team

Mobile phone users across the UK could be wasting as much as £800 million every year because they are on the wrong tariff.

Following research by price comparison site, it would appear that many of us are signed up to uneconomical contracts as people get confused when trying to work out what kind of tariff is right for them.

It is thought that the majority of people could be around £62 better off if they switched their contract to something more in keeping with how they use their phone.

Consumers are now being urged to think more carefully about how they use their mobiles and not to be seduced by large numbers of minutes and texts that they won't end up using.

Looking back over old phone bills to assess how you use your phone and considering the cost of added extras such as download limits and the web should also be taken into consideration.

Do you feel like you're spending too much on your phone bill? With Firstnumber you don't need to worry about the cost of calling friends and family in far flung locations since our cheap international calls start from as little as 1p a minute.
