Orlando man receives threatening phone calls

Within a few hours of purchasing his first mobile phone at the age of 49, Orlando man Junior Alexander Guy had received the first of many abusive calls. The victim estimates he was subjected to around 70 phone threats in total.

After a 2 day ordeal and fearing for his own and his mother's life, he relocated the woman before handing the phone over to Orlando lawyer Robert Trimble for safekeeping.

The number – 407 435 2400 - issued to Guy by T-Mobile was found to have formerly been used by George Zimmerman, a Neighbourhood Watch volunteer charged for the killing of Trayvon Martin in February this year. It has been widely broadcast and can be found online.

Since the recent incident the phone number has been deactivated. Trimble has requested T-Mobile pay damages to Guy. The company refuses, and has issued Guy a new number, account credit, and waived an early termination charge.

Guy, an Orlando wastewater plant employee, had never owned a mobile phone, in part because he was discharged from prison last year after serving a 19 year sentence.
