What is First Number?
First Number is an 'instant dial' service, you don't need an account, you just dial an access number and away you go. It lets you make
cheap international calls from anywhere in the UK to hundreds of countries worldwide.
How do I use First Number?
You simply search for the country you want to phone and you'll find the
cheap call access number for that country. You can make your
cheap international call immediately by dialing our country access number then the country code and then the
phone number of the person you want to call. It's as easy as that.
Can I make cheap calls from a payphone?
Yes.
Can I make cheap international calls from my mobile phone?
Yes.

If my mobile phone provider gives me free minutes to national numbers, will I be charged when I use First Number?
Call your mobile service provider and ask them whether our mobile access number i.e. 07744 939700 is allowed within your FREE minutes.
Are there any subscription or registration fees?
No, absolutely not. There is no account to open, no extra charges, no other bill to pay and you don't need a credit card either. We offer
cheap calls instantly.
How am I billed for these cheap calls?
When you use the First Number service you only pay for calling one of our
cheap call access numbers. Your service provider will bill you - not us. For example, when you make a five minute call to Australia using our service from a BT phone it will cost 13p. The next time you receive your BT bill you will see a call to First Number's 0844 number, for a duration of 5 minutes and a charge of 13p with no charges by us.
Is the service billed per minute?
You'll be billed depending on what your current provider tariff says. Don't forget, we don't bill you for our service, your current provider does.
Are there peak and off-peak rates with First Number?
No, it's the same cheap call rate no matter what time of day or night it is.
Am I still charged when my call is unanswered or the line is engaged?
Yes, as your service provider bills you for calling our cheap call access number you will still be charged if the person you are calling doesn’t answer or if the line is engaged.
Does First Number charge the person I am calling as well?
No, only you’ll be charged by your service provider for calling one of our
cheap call access numbers.
Is the quality of the international calls good?
Yes, it's excellent; your cheap international call will sound like any other call you make.
Why does it sometimes take a long time to connect my call?
When calling some of the more remote countries you may encounter a slight delay, this is normally due to the local telecommunications infrastructure in the country you are calling.

What access number should I use to call a UK mobile phone abroad?
When calling a UK mobile that is roaming overseas you should use the normal access number for the country they are in. Please be aware that the person receiving the call with be charged by their service provider as they normally would be while roaming.
