Are Men More Difficult To Understand Over The Phone?
4 March 2010
Researchers at Edinburgh University have revealed that voice recognition computers find men more difficult to understand than their female counterparts.
Computers found men more difficult to comprehend given the increased number of 'errs' and 'ums' in their speech patterns.
Cheap international calls made by women could be more coherent than those made by men
Women were found to be more direct in their speech and punctuated their sentences with fewer interruptions and hesitations.

The investigation was carried out by recording phone calls and running them through a voice recognition computer.
Do you think men 'um' and 'err' more over the phone? Ever made a cheap international call to Cameroon or Malta that's punctuated with hesitations?
