Each year in Britain, we're responsible for throwing away 100 million tonnes of rubbish into landfills up and down the country.

The sad fact is around 60% of our regular dustbin rubbish could easily be recycled.

Up until now, plastics in particular proved difficult to recycle especially when used to make TV sets, laptops and landline phones.

A Swansea-based firm called Affresol has come up with the perfect solution to Britain's plastic dilemma in the form of three bedroom detached homes.

In a nutshell, the construction firm takes 18 tonnes of plastic that would otherwise had a date with the landfill and creates eco-friendly, low carbon homes.

Melting down and fusing the recycled plastic to create a building material known as Thermo Poly Rock, the homes are fire, storm and waterproof and cost a mere £42,000.
