Japanese Bosses Turn Up The Heat With New Spy Phone

A mobile phone manufacturer in Japan has developed technology that tracks users movements and sends the information back to anyone wanting to keep tabs on them.

The technology is hoped to encourage employees to work harder, especially when they are out with the traditional office setting.

BBC News quoted Philip Sugai, director of the mobile consumer lab at the International University of Japan who said “Technically, I think this is an incredibly important innovation.

For example, when applied to the issue of telemedicine, or other situations in which remotely monitoring or accessing an individual's personal movements is vital to that service.”

Human Rights supporters have raised concern since the technology could be employed by over zealous or prying bosses who want to take a Big Brother style approach to monitoring their staff.

Similar technology currently exists for elderly people or lone workers whose safety is sometimes put at risk when working in isolated environments.
