Nokia sues Apple over patent infringements

Nokia have launched a compliant against Apple alleging that the computer giants iPhone and iPad 3G products both infringe a number of Nokia patents.

The patents relate to developments in data and speech transmission that allow for smaller devices.

Nokia believes its performance and design capabilities are key to its development of patented technologies.

Paul Melin – general manager of patent licensing at Nokia – said the company would do everything to protect their patents.

“We have taken this step to protect the results of our pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia's innovation.”

Nokia is currently the world leader in development of hand-held devices and has invested around 40 billion Euros in research to date.
